Situated Simulations is a prototype genre with indirect augmented reality. In this thesis, a prototype is developed to gain a deeper meaning of how the Sitsim-platform can be used to highlight local heritage. The prototype is further discussed and emphasized with the theoretical perspective of Walter Benjamin’s Aura. The purpose of the thesis is to investigate aura and meaning of local heritage with the means of a prototype application of Tangenelven in Ytre Enebakk. The findings reveal that the sense of aura depends on the alignment of the virtual content with the real world. The application was tested with 11 participants, and their feedback was collected through the means of a survey.
