Abstract
In this thesis I examine the ancient presentation of Hercules versus the TV-series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. My task consists of two parts; a multimedia product in the form of a CD-ROM, and a paper thesis that covers methods and theories concerning my own multimedia product and the actual production process. The problem also consists of two parts. First I discuss the problems with representation regarding different media. Then I examine how the medium CD-ROM affects my multimedia presentation. My analysis shows that different media have different rhetorical conventions regarding storytelling. This can affect the outcome when choosing the myths and the angle you want for your presentation. My multimedia production has to consider many conventions. In addition, hypertext has its own rhetoric, which supports the popular science presentation. When working on the actual CD-ROM, I have been mixing traditional process models, like the spiral model, with more recent web theories, like those of Barner-Rasmussen and Nielsen.
