Sammendrag
Denne hovedoppgaven er en resepsjonsstudie av Accra fjernsynseere i Ghana. Oppgaven fokuserer på spørsmålet- Hvordan danner Accra fjersynsseere socio-politisk meninger ut fra tv -nyhets programmer? For å undersøke dette har ti individuelle seere blitt intervjuet. De socio-politiske sider av deres resepsjon står i fokus i denne oppgave. Ordet resepsjon har blitt brukt i oppgaven for å refere til den mening som kommer ut fra publikums side. Frigjørings potensialet av nyhets-tekst er også i fokus i denne oppgaven. Kvalitative metode har blitt brukt. Private and public sphere begrepet står også i fokus i denne studien.Resultater fra denne studien kan ikke generaliseres til samtlige Accra fjersynsseere eller til alle fjernsynsseere i Ghana.
The thesis is a reception study of Accra tv viewers in Ghana. It focuses on the question How do Accra tv viewers create socio-political meaning out of tv news programs?
In pursuance of this objective ten individual viewers were interviewed. The socio-political aspects of their reception is in focus in this thesis. The term reception has been used to refer to the meanings which originate from the audience and further to viewers decodings and interpretations. Further, the thrust is on the emancipatory potential of the news text. The qualitative research method has been used. The concept of the public sphere has also been used. The dichotomy of public and private spheres is used in this study. The approach of this study is that the media place the audience/public in touch with the public sphere conveying important information that transcend the private sphere. It must be emphasised that findings from this study cannot be generalised to all tv viewers in Accra or to all tv viewers in Ghana.
