While 1,4-benzodiazepines are used intensively in the medicinal industry as antidepressants, 1,3-benzodiazepines have been less investigated. Recent findings in the Catalysis group at the University of Oslo show the formation of 1,3-dibenzodiazepines can be achieved by the reaction of diaminobiphenyls with an aldehyde. In this project, three novel 1,3-dibenzodiazipenes were isolated and were found to absorb and emit light. Their photophysical properties were investigated and compared with computational TD-DFT results. The postsynthetic incorporation of the diazepines in a series of mixed-linker BPDC-(NH2)2 UiO-67 MOFs was successful, after a thorough investigation on how the different percentages of BPDC-(NH2)2 linker can affect the MOF internal defects and stability.eng
