| dc.description.abstract | Expo-Rational B-splines (ERBS) is a new geometric representation for use in complex shaping/design. The special about ERBS is that it is based on local blending of local geometry. The development of ERBS started in 2003.
When designing real products or virtual products (objects in computer games and animations/movies) there is a persistent attraction towards more complex and springy shapes. Still the basic mathematics used in the design programs gives perceptible restrictions for creativity. ERBS will move these limits and thus expand the space for creativity. This makes it possible to do significant improvements in design.
The main goal of this work has firstly been to clarify a theoretical fundament for a new type of splines, Expo-Rational B-splines, secondly, to develop algorithms to use as tools, thirdly to show results from test applications and generally enable an overall preparation for presenting this new type of splines for public use. | nor |
