dc.description.abstractSTEP/EXPRESS is an ISO standard for engineering data. The standard has extensive support for data validation. The validation of large data sets can get very complex and time consuming. This thesis examines a method for parallelizing the execution of such validations. A method to decompose validations into smaller pieces is outlined. This decomposition is then used to design a manager/worker system that can execute on a cluster of cheap commodity hardware. This approach proves to be successful, with speedups close to the maximum theoretical speedup in best cases.nor
