Ionic consentrasions causes electric impulses in the heart. To describe the hearts activity, this thesis will consentrate about two simple models: Hodgkin-Huxley and the monodomain model. These models contain a lot of parameters. The ionic current in simple cells will be modeled by the Hodgkin-Huxley model, and we will investigate how changes of parametres causes changes in the current. The electric activity in the heart will be simulated by the monodomain model. The ionic current contains a lot of parameters and simulations of the activity will take a while if we do changes in all these parameters. A function that acts as the ionic current, but does not contain all the parameters, will therefore be used. It will be desided if changes in the ionic current causes changes in the acivity's velocity through the heart. As an introduction the cell and the hearts anatomi will be described. A mathematical description of the cell and how the Hodgkin-Huxley model describe the ionic current will also be described. The thesis will go through the electric current in the heart and how this may be representated by mathematical models. The finite element method is used to solve the monodomain model. A stability analysis of the electric activity in simple cells will be investigated, and simulations of the electric acivity in heart will be presentet.nor
