Identitet og tilhørighet i en krysskulturell oppvekst: En analyse av Zeshan Shakars roman Tante Ulrikkes vei (2017)

Abstract

Sammendrag I denne masteroppgaven foretar jeg en analyse av Tante Ulrikkes vei (2017) av Zeshan Shakar med utgangspunkt i temaene identitet og tilhørighet. I romanen er det flere faktorer som kan være grunnlaget for hovedpersonenes identitetsdannelse. Jeg undersøker hvilke faktorer og vilkår som har særlig innflytelse på hovedpersonene, Mo og Jamal, sin identitet. For å undersøke dette skal jeg bruke postkolonial teori og sekundærlitteratur om identitet, tilhørighet og diasporalitteratur. Postkolonial teori er relevant i denne masteroppgaven med tanke på «synet på den Andre». Sentrale begrep i oppgaven er blant annet identitet, fellesskap og tilhørighet.

Abstract This master`s thesis analyzing Tante Ulrikkes road (2017) by Zeshan Shakar is focusing on identity and belonging. There are several factors that influence the main character`s identity in this book. The aim of this thesis is to find what kind of factors and how these affect Mo and Jamals identity. To examine this, I am going to use postcolonial theory and secondary literature about identity, belonging and diaspora literature. Postcolonial theory is a relevant subject in this thesis because of "the view of the other". It is also useful to understand the definition of identity, community and belonging.
