Abstract
This thesis is about the use and design of instructions for business software systems. The questions that have been investigated are about challenges in explaining software roles to users. I have explored motivation techniques in order to acheive user involvement. The thesis is written within Human-computer interaction (HCI) and will use HCI terms and concepts. The case has been given by Visma Software International, with the purpose of creating instructions for software roles with a user centered focus. The main contribution is guidelines for using motivational techniques in designing instructions.
