For decades, the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has challenged healthcare professionals, communities, and policymakers. Yet, there is little known about the socioeconomic and governance-related factors contributing to AMR. Recent studies have introduced quality of governance as a potential factor influencing AMR prevalence. This study thus relies on the assumption that good governance is associated with better health outcomes. The purpose of this research is to better explain the variation in AMR rates across European countries through identifying relevant socioeconomic and governance variables and testing the strength and significance of these relationships in a modern 30-country dataset.eng
