| nob |
dc.description.abstract | This MA thesis aims to study stakeholders as secondary crisis communicators on the social media platform Facebook. It also examines Facebook as a rhetorical sub-arena for crisis communication where the possibilities, limitations and prerequisites for communication on the platform will be explored. Moreover, the thesis will investigate the stakeholders’ rhetorical effort in a specific crisis context, more closely defined as Rema 1000’s crisis in relation to the launch of their new loyalty strategy – “bestevennstrategien” as it is known in Norwegian. The thesis will focus on the negative stakeholders – the stakeholders that show discontent with the strategy. This focus is grounded in a quantitative analysis of the secondary crisis communication on Rema 1000´s Facebook site in the inaugural phase of the crisis. The quantitative analysis showed that the negative stakeholders where the most active communicators on the rhetorical sub-arena. Through a qualitative analysis, this thesis will identify dominant strategies used by the negative stakeholders. The analysis also opens for a discussion surrounding the negative stakeholders’ rhetorical agency, which will be defined by their ability to utilize the rhetorical possibilities of the genre they’re communicating within, their digital literacy and their ability to build their online ethos. | eng |
