Motvold: Ideologisk bakgrunn for «konfrontasjonslinja» blant militante antifascister 1990-2001

Abstract

Denne oppgaven undersøker ideologien, selvforståelsen og de strategiske hensynene som lå til grunn for militante antifascisters bruk av vold mot nynazister på 1990-tallet. Perioden var preget av tidvis svært grov vold mot nynazister og terroranslag i form av bomber og skyteepisoder fra nynazistenes side. Gjennom en kvalitativ analyse av publikasjoner fra Blitz, Antifascistisk Aksjon (AFA) og Ringerike Antirasistisk Ungdom (RAU) skal gruppenes forståelse av de nynazistiske ungdomsgjengene og de militante antifascistenes rolle i å bekjempe dem presenteres og analyseres. Mye av deres selvforståelse kommer tydeligst frem gjennom kritikk av andre aktører i samtiden eller gjennom forsvar av egne strategiske valg. Derfor vil deres argumentasjon settes opp mot kritikk fremmet av sosiologiske voldsforskere og representanter for den øvrige antirasistiske bevegelsen. 90-tallets militante antifascister er aldri blitt systematisk forsket på uavhengig av deres nynazistiske motpart. Denne oppgaven håper å kunne bidra med et innblikk i ideologien bak den militante antifascistiske «konfrontasjonslinja».

The thesis examines the political and strategic considerations made, and the ideology behind, militant antifascists’ choice to use violence against neo-nazis in south-east Norway during the 1990’s. The period was marked by terrorist actions in the form of bombs and shootings from neo-nazis, and occasionally severe violence against them, perpetrated by antifascist youth. Through an analysis of publications by Blitz, Antifascistisk Aksjon (AFA) and Ringerike Antirasistisk Ungdom (RAU), the militant antifascists’ view of the neo-nazi gangs and their role in defeating them are examined and discussed. Significant insights are found when reviewing their criticism of other forces or defending their strategy from outside critique. Therefore, critiques brought forth by contemporary sociologists as well as representatives of the broader, more moderate, anti-racism movement will be examined. The Norwegian militant antifascists of the 1990’s have never been researched independently of their neo-nazi counterpart. This thesis hopes to provide insight into the ideology behind the antifascist confrontational tactics.
