dc.description.abstractThe material CoNb2O6 has in recent times attracted much attention due to having rich physics in applied magnetic fields. This thesis explores whether or not it is possible to observe magnetic Bloch oscillations in CoNb2O6. We do so by first establishing theoretically CoNb2O6 as a candidate material for these oscillations. Afterwards the magnetic and thermodynamical properties are explored through Monte Carlo simulations, verifying the code as we go, before searching for parameters that make detecting magnetic Bloch oscillation probable. We end up with suggesting a temperature of T=2.8 K and two magnetic field strengths, B=0.31 T and B=0.38 T, giving rise to two detectable Bloch frequencies for future neutron diffraction experiments.eng
