Abstract
Historically observed, development and application of new technologies has always been an area of skepticism versus optimism. Patenting in the field of biotechnologies mirrors that global pattern. Finding the right balance should be made cautiously and proportionate as to the estimation between set goals and potential risks. In that sense, the biotechnology patent law can be a helpful tool and can be used for the benefit of a better future medicine, a more robust food supply, and better living standard in global sense. Certainly, every tool can be misused or not properly estimated in advance. Keeping a proportionate approach is the most secure way of finding the right balance among colliding values.
