In many Stone Age investigations in Norway flint automatically takes a dominant role. This has resulted in a bias, with the technological characteristics of locally available, high-quality, lithic raw materials often being virtually ignored. With this in mind, this study has attempted to highlight aspects of behaviour through a chaîne opératoire analysis of one such raw material: jasper. In this regard three sites, Knubba, Bjørkeli and Stene Terrace were selected from the Gråfjell project, Hedmark, Åmot. This selection was made on the grounds of the quality of the excavation, the sites were fully excavated and because they contained a broad range of raw material types. This afforded an excellent opportunity to investigate aspects of technological, distributional and behavioural character.en_US
