Abstract

Nettbrett som iPad har de siste årene blitt mer populært, og er for øyeblikket den typen personlig datamaskin som har hatt den prosentvis kraftigste veksten i salg og bruk. Oppgaven utforsker hvordan man kan utnytte nettbrett som formidlingsplattform. Gjennom et praktisk-teoretisk prosjekt gjøres en adaptasjon fra papirbok til iPad-applikasjon med mål om forståelig og engasjerende formidling. Prosessen med design og produksjon av applikasjonen var spesielt orientert rundt områdene struktur, multimodal sammensetning og interaksjonsdesign. I en brukertest ble applikasjonen prøvd av et målrettet utvalg informanter. Resultatene drøftes i lys av teorier om hypertekst og linearitet, multimodalitet og interaksjonsdesign. Den viser at nettbrett kan være en god formidlingsplattform, men at kombiansjonen av modaliteter, oppbygning og interaksjon fort kan ta leserens oppmerksomhet bort fra innholdet og over på presentasjonen.

Electronic tablets like the iPad has the last few years become more poplular. At the moment it is the kind of personal computer with the greatest growth in sales and use. This thesis explores how we kan use the tablet as a platform for storytelling and communication. Through a practical-theoretical project an adaptation of a paper book to a tablet application has been done, with the goal of promoting engagement and understanding. The process of design and production of the application was centered around the areas structure, multimodal composition and interaction design. The application was tested in a user test with a purposive sampling of respondents. The results are discussed through theories on hypertext and linearity, multimodality and interaction design. It shows that the tablet can be an effective communication platform, although the combination of modes, structure and interaction quickly can shift the the reader s attention from the content over to the presentation.
