Abstract
I oppgaven studeres verkets komplekse estetikk.
This thesis is a mediaaesthetic analysis of Jim Campbell´s artwork Illuminated Average #1: Hitchcock´s Psycho (2000). The artwork is a static and singular image produced from every single frame of Alfred Hitchcock´s film Psycho (1960), and displayed on a lightbox. The main focus in this thesis is the aesthetic complexity of the artwork, and the theoretical approach to the analysis is interdisciplinary. The analysis uses perspectives and theory from several academic fields, in which media theory, art theory, culture theory and aesthetic theory are represented.
