Balkan utenfor Balkan : Hvordan opplever nordmenn balkanmusikk sammenlignet med balkanere?

Abstract

Denne masteroppgaven i musikkvitenskap tar for seg hvordan nordmenn opplever balkanmusikk sammenlignet med folk fra Balkan. Den undersøker hvordan musikkopplevelsen påvirkes av lytternes foroppfatninger og referanserammer, og ser på sammenhengen mellom disse faktorene og deres kulturelle bakgrunn. Studien bruker klubbkonseptet Balkan Beat Party Oslo som case, med musikkutvalget og gjestene på disse arrangementene. Gjennom feltarbeid og kvalitative intervjuer med publikum fra Norge og Balkan sammenlignes opplevelser, erfaringer og tolkninger av musikken.

This Master's Thesis in musicology discusses how Balkan music is experienced by Norwegians compared to people from the Balkans. It examines how the listeners' pre-perceptions and references affect their experience of this music, and explores the connection between these factors and the listeners' cultural background. In the research project, the club concept Balkan Beat Party Oslo, with the music and audience at those events, is used as a case to discuss these issues. The experiences of Balkan music among the people from Norway and the Balkans are compared through field work and qualitative interviews.
