Spectral flux is usually measured with the FFT, but here a constant-Q IIR filterbank implementation is proposed. This leads to a relatively efficient sliding feature extractor with the benefit of keeping the time resolution of the output as high as it is in the input signal. Several applications are considered, such as estimation of sensory dissonance, uses in sound synthesis, adaptive effects processing and visualisation in recurrence plots. A novel feature called second order flux is also introduced.Proceedings of the 9th Sound and Music Computing Conference, Copenhagen, Denmark, p.419-425 (2012)
