| dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT:
Our understanding and treatment of children with autism have changed dramatically since Leo Kinner first formally documented this disorder in 1943.
This paper looks at the treatment of autism in children. The main focus of the paper is Pharmacological treatment with anti-depressives (SSRI and TCA), anti-psycotics and the hormone secretin and dietary intervention with Gluten and/or Casein free diets. The conclusion of the paper is that we still need a lot more research in order to conclude whether or not we can use these types of treatment. Secretin treatment however has been the focus of many studies and does not show a significant result compared with placebo and should not be used. | nor |
