Migraine can be divided in to two categories, migraine with aura and migraine without aura, and they both have to fulfill IHS- criteria for migraine. In 1988 came the first systematic classification of different types of headache (ICHD-1), it was published by The International Headache Society (IHS). The second edition came in 2004 (ICHD-2). Migraine can be triggered by different things. For instance stress, light, odours, different dietary etc. Alcohol is a trigger factor that can release migraine attack. Comparing to other trigger factors, stress is more common than alcohol. It has been done a lot of studies of this case and most of the studies are retrospective where the patients have to answer questions about their alcohol consume. Different studies give different answers. Some of the studies show that alcohol is a trigger to headache at migraine patients, but others don’t show any connection between migraine patients and alcohol. Another question that has been taken up, is that alcohol or its´ content in alcohol beverage trigger migraine attack. A study shows that some patients get headache of red wine but not of vodka. In red wine contents of biogenic amines (histaminer, tyraminer, phenylethylamine etc), sulphites, phenolic flavonoids theoretic can trigger headache. Alcohol consume at migraine patients are less than if compared to the general population, and the reason can be because when they consume alcohol, it might trigger headache and that’s why they prefer to abstain from alcohol. Some studies show that genetic is in the picture, and most of the patients that have alcohol as a trigger often reports that other family members also have the same problem. So in this project task I will go further and deeper in to the discussion of all this issue.eng
