Abstract
This thesis examines the strategic planning and implementation of internal communication during the period when the changeproject ”Project 2020” was discussed in Innlandet Hospital Trust. The study is limited to the Division of Mental healthcare, and bases its empirical findings on interviews with the head of the communication department, the senior manager, four middle managers and eight supervisors. The main focus of this thesis has been to investigate the relationship between organisation and communication by analyzing the hierarchical communication, and clarify negative and positive aspects connected to this way of communicating change. The conclusion is that hierarchical communication was a successfull way to communicate change. Both the middle managers and the supervisors received most of their information from their nearest leader. They also posess communication skills in order to make the hierarchical communication function after its intention.
