Illojalitet vil bli bedømt og straffet deretter : norsk presse under nazistisk sensur

Abstract

Denne oppgava tar for seg sensur og meningstvang i tre norske aviser under den tyske okkupasjonen 1940-1945. Oppgava forsøker å gi svar på hvorvidt den norske pressen lot seg kue, eller om de viste vilje til kamp mot sensurinstansene. Undersøkelsen er basert på de daglige og hemmelige pressedirektivene, såkalte ”Privat til red.”-retningslinjer, utsendt av både tyske og norske kontrollmyndigheter; henholdsvis Presseabteilung og Pressedirektoratet. Med en kvantitativ innholdsundersøkelse og nærlesing av 20 av disse direktivene søker jeg å avdekke hvilken linje avisene valgte å føre overfor maktapparatet, og knytte funnene opp mot teorier om propaganda og sensur.

This thesis examines censorship and the lack of freedom of speech in three Norwegian news papers during the German occupation, 1940-1945. My aim is to explore the relationship between these newspapers and the German and the Norwegian press control authorities, namely the German Presseabteilung and the Norwegian Pressedirektorat. My investigation is based on the daily and secret messages sent from these two branches to the editors of each news paper in Norway. In order to examine my question of whether or not these news papers indulged the restraints of censorship suggested in these daily messages, I will partly resort to a method of quantitative research. Furthermore, I will do a textual analysis of 20 of these so called “Privat to red.”- messages to see how they affected the three news papers respectively. Combined with theories of propaganda and censorship, this will be the basis of my discussion.
