Abstract
Sammendrag:
Formålet med denne oppgaven er å utforske produksjonen av nyheter som omhandler den norske økonomiske elite. Ved å intervjue aktører som av økonomitidsskriftet Kapital regnes blant de 200 rikeste i Norge, samt journalister som jevnlig skriver om disse, vil oppgaven analysere hva som kjennetegner de ulike aktørenes makt og samspill. Oppgaven kommer til å operere på to plan: Et nyhetssosiologisk plan basert på et kulturalistisk perspektiv, hvor samspillet mellom økonomijournalister og aktører fra den økonomiske elite vil bli utforsket. I tillegg, et mer overordnet plan hvor Pierre Bourdieus feltteorier vil anvendes for å se på maktproblematikken mellom de to gruppene. I tillegg vil oppgaven innbefatte en innholds-analyse. Her vil det bli redegjort for variasjoner i pressedekningen av den økonomiske elite det siste tiåret, variasjoner i omtale av ulike økonomiske aktøre innenfor den økonomiske elite, samt variasjoner i omtale mellom tre ulike aviser Dagbladet, Aftenposten og Dagens Næringsliv. Oppgaven er en del av Makt- og demokratiutredningen, 1998-2003, og noe av formålet med denne er, gjennom analyse av maktmennesker, nettopp å kunne si noe om medienes makt i samfunnet
Summary:
The objective of this thesis is to explore the production of news relating to the financial elite in Norway. By way of interviewing participants who by the financial magazine, Kapital, is believed to be among the 200 wealthiest people in Norway plus the journalists regulary writing about this people, the thesis aims to analyse what characterises the power of the participants and the interaction between them. The thesis will function on two levels: A newssociological level based on a cultural perspective, in which the interaction between financial journalists and the participants from the financial elite will be explored, and a wider perspective in which the field theories of Pierre Bourdieu will be applied in examining issues of power relating to these two groups. The thesis will also include a content analysis, which will highlight the differences in the news coverage of the financial elite during the last decade and pinpoint how this coverage varies in three different newspapers Dagbladet, Aftenposten, and Dagens Næringsliv. The thesis is part of Makt- og Demokratiutredningen 1998-2003, and part of the objective is to comment on media`s power in today`s society through analysis of people in positions of power.
