Informasjonsstrategier og handlingsvalg i det globale, sivile samfunn : en analyse av Amnesty International og Amnesty International Norge

Abstract

Fremveksten av internasjonale, frivillige organisasjoner sier noe om intensivering av verdensomspennende relasjoner og et globalt sivilt samfunn. Globalisering er derfor en sentral samfunnsmessig tilstand for å forstå internasjonale frivillige organisasjoner og deres strategiske virkemidler. Oppgavens problemstilling gjenspeiler disse forholdene. Hvordan blir Amnesty Internationals informasjonsstrategier og handlingsvalg formet av og tilpasset omgivelsene, og på hvilke måter er vekselvirkninger i forholdet mellom omgivelsene og organisasjonen med på å legge føringer for Amnesty International Norges informasjonsvirksomhet? I analysen har jeg brukt Dieter Ruchts begrepsmessige tilnærmelse som synliggjør hvordan faktorer på ulike samfunnsmessige nivåer virker strukturerende på organisasjoners handlinger og strategier.

The growth of international non-governmental organisations displays intensification of world-embracing relations, and a global civil society. The concept of globalisation is a crucial social condition to understand international non-governmental organisations and their strategic means. The issue to be addressed in this thesis reflects these conditions. How are Amnesty International’s action repertoires and information strategies shaped by and adjusted to its environment, and in what ways are interaction between the environment and the organisation itself influencing Amnesty International Norway’s information activities? My analysis is based on Dieter Rucht’s conceptual approach which makes visible how factors on various social levels influents an organization’s choice of strategies and actions.
