| nor |
dc.description.abstract | The focal point of this thesis is a presumed connection between nation , identity and the media, and the overarching objective is to present a defence for understanding and an argument against oversimplification. My main source of information and inspiration in this paper is theory: Theories of nations and nationalism , of identity formation and of processes of change often labelled globalisation . The core question informing the interpretation of these theories is how a connection between nation , identity and the media contributes to continued imaginings of national identities, manifested in various forms of loyalty towards national groupings. This thesis does not set out to offer hard-hitting answers to this core question, but suggests that a connection between nation , identity and the media does exist, and that it is more compelling and more taken-for-granted than often recognised. | eng |
