Abstract
This project is an attempt to describe the different ways in which the press in connection with the Bjugn-case contributed to move the thematic hegemony from one kind of focus to another, and from one kind of mediapanic to another. The Bjugn-case was treated in the Norwegian media for a period of three years, from March 1992 on and until the end of April 1995, and almost 1,2 columnkilometre of newspaper articles were printed in the following four Norwegian newspapers Aftenposten, Adresseavisen, Dagbladet og VG in this period of time. The Bjugn-case also became an important subject for the public debate and 60 columnmetre of editorials and 85 columnmetre of letters to the editor were printed i the four newspapers. In connection to the subject a quantitative and a qualitative content analyses have been made of the newspaper articles, the editorials and the letters to the editor in the newspapers throughout this period of three years. The analysis has been made in the light of different theoretical approaches, as for instance changes in the public, the basic for moral panics, media's construction of reality and the importance of sources and the logic of the media and frames of interpretation, thus with the concept of hegemony as a superior perspective.
