Abstract
De fire WWW-avisene er Aftenposten Nettutgaven (Norge), Guardian Unlimited (Storbritannia), smh.com.au (Australia) og The New York Times on the Web (USA).
Forskningsresultatene basert på innholdsanalyser - indikerer at papiravisenes journalistikk fremdeles spiller en viktig rolle for nettutgavene.
This master thesis focuses on the journalistic change of news journalism from print to online newspapers. More precisely, the dissertation concentrates on the presentation of editorial content in four different online newspapers and their origins in print. The four online media are Aftenposten Nettutgaven (Norway), Guardian Unlimited (UK), smh.com.au (Australia) and The New York Times on the Web (US).
The results of the research - based on content analyses - indicate that print journalism still plays a major role for the online editions. A lot of articles are more or less republished online. The publishing potential of the WWW editions is just partly exploited. While multimedia features and reader participation are provided to a minor grade, the online papers on the other hand have a greater ability to use links and, not least, update the content. In addition, there are signs of publishing shorter articles, while at the same time the use of pictures takes a less priority. In general, these are the journalistic common features of the online editions. In journalistic terms, three of them are comparatively similar, but GU is different because it to a greater extent has a more independent news coverage in form of links, reader participation and multimedia.
