POLITIKK OG PR : Et studie av norske politiske partiers medie- og kommunikasjonsstrategier i stortingsvalgkampene 1989 til 2001

Abstract

Denne oppgaven undersøker endringer i de norske politiske partienes tilnærming til kommunikasjons- og mediestrategier i stortingsvalgkampene i perioden 1989-2001, hvor den norske mediestrukturen endret seg fundamentalt. Studiet forankres i teori- og fagfeltet public relations og analyserer fire ulike case med et retorisk utgangspunkt: stortingsvalgkampen i 1989, 1993, 1997 og 2001, med et særlig fokus på NRKs fjernsynssendte partilederdebatter. Oppgaven konkluderer med at det har forekommet klare endringer i de teknikkene og det tankegodset de norske politiske partiene benytter i sine valgkampstrategier, samt at partiledernes strategier når de opptrer i partilederdebatter har endret seg markant.

This thesis will examine changes in the approach Norwegian political parties have taken to communication- and media strategies in election campaigns in the period 1989-2001, a period when the Norwegian media structure changed fundamentally. The dissertation is based on public relations theory, and analyse four different cases, the Norwegian election campaigns in 1989, 1993, 1997 and 2001. It especially focuses on political debates broadcasted on the Norwegian television channel NRK. The thesis concludes with the view that there have been clear changes in the techniques the political parties use in their election strategies, and when their politicians perform on television.
