Dramatikk på bølgelengde : Peer Gynt, Niveanatt og det moderne Radioteatret

Abstract

Denne avhandlingen tar for seg den moderne hørespillproduksjonen til NRK Radioteatret. Gjennom tekstanalyse av to av teatrets siste storsatsninger, Peer Gynt (1997) og Niveanatt (2001), forsøker oppgaven å kartlegge hvor hørespillet står som dramatisk genre i Norge i dag og hvor det er på vei.

Selv om ordet alltid vil stå sentralt i et radioteater, står det moderne hørespillets lydbilde i dag frem med én felles stemme. Både musikk og lydeffekter har fått en stadig viktigere rolle. Fra å være teater i radio, har hørespillet omsider klart å løsrive seg fra det tradisjonelle teatrets normer og etablert seg som en egen genre. Med komplekse og ofte symbolske lydbilder, kjapp klipperytme og en utpreget bruk av musikk, står hørespillet i dag nærmere filmen enn scenedramatikken. Målet er å åpne for en bredere fortolkning, der det er viktigere å føle enn å forstå.

This paper concerns the dramatic productions of the Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) of today. Through analyses of two of the latest and biggest productions, Peer Gynt (1997) and Niveanatt (2001), the object is to show where Norwegian radio drama is today and where it is heading. The spoken word will always be crucial to audio drama. Nevertheless, today words, music and sound effects are mixed together into a single voice. Traditionally radio drama has been linked closely to the traditional stage theatre, but in the later years it has grown into a genre of its own. With a complex and often symbolic sound, fast dramatic rhythm and music playing a central role, radio drama of today has more in common with the movie than traditional stage theatre. The object is to make the listener interpret the play their own way, and feel it rather than understand it.
