| nor |
dc.description.abstract | This thesis explores how and why norwegian politicians participate in social medias. This is done through analysis of politicians Twitter updates during the parliamentary election of 2009. I have also interviewed two of the politicians view on social media. The main finding is a large variation in the characteristics of Twitter updates. The study point out that they wave about different arrangements or media performances they participate in, they discuss and converse with other Twitter users and each other, they do small talk with users and inform about what they are doing «just now». I argue that politicians may seem to have their own party colleagues as target group, and that they make affiliation to segments in the population. Reflections from the politicians indicate an idealistic view on social media, but they act more realistic by trying to achieve publicity in established media. Politicians also want their personality to be reflected in their social media presence. | eng |
