| nor |
dc.description.abstract | This thesis explores changes in Aftenposten’s journalism over a period of 58 years. To answer the question of how Aftenposten changes I use quantitative content analysis to study the form, content and style in four time intervals: 1950, 1970, 1990 and 2008. The underlying hypothesis of the thesis is that in competition with other news outlets, and especially the Internet, Aftenposten has had to change its editorial policy and supply a different kind of content than earlier. The results illustrate a significant change in what Aftenposten considers to be good or relevant news material. There is an increase in articles with a wider time frame and an increase in articles with softer themes such as culture, health, research and other social topics. A further development is the changed role of the journalist: journalists are more often profiled as authors and, through the genre of commentary, increasingly assigned the role of experts in their field. | eng |
