dc.description.abstractLangston Hughes dedicated his life to fight for the rights of African Americans. His production was large, and covered all literary genres. This thesis is consentrated on a selection of his articles in the Chicago Defender, and a few of his poems. The texts are viewed with the aim to establish their actuality to current events. The thesis gives an account of the cause of Hughes's dedication to his task, and asks whether he made a difference to the progress in the Civil Rights Movement. The conclusion of the thesis is that he did.nor
