This thesis investigates modern literature for children and youngsters and film adaptations. I have aimed to study J. K. Rowling s two first books about Harry Potter, Harry Potter and the Philosopher s Stone (1997) and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (1998), put into genre and tradition. I have also compared the literary works to the two corresponding film adaptations, both directed by Chris Columbus, released so far. Analysing Rowling s texts I have found that they contain elements such as features of the double addressee, aspects of intertextuality and the matter of identification. When analysing the films, and the transfer of Rowling's texts, this is also the elements I mainly focus on.nor
