dc.description.abstract | THE THESIS OVERVIEW
This thesis is all about Nigerians who immigrated to Houston and other parts of the United States and those of them who later returned to Nigeria for good. The period of time under review is between 1975 and 2005. Primarily, the goal of this study is to examine in detail, the various factors that are responsible for the immigration and emigration (the push and pull factors) in Nigeria and Houston respectively. The analysis of the answers to these factors and other related questions will be made.
The phenomenon that Houston is one of the cities of residence of the greatest number of Nigerians in the States will be investigated. Statistical data that will be obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Immigration and naturalization Service INS) and Nigerian authorities will be the most reliable sources of information. The thesis will also make a critical analysis of the economic and social consequences of the migration to and from Houston by Nigerians. The introduction chapter will give other details like the methods to be used for this study and why.

This chapter examines the push and pull factors for the influx of Nigerians Houston. The chapter will also examine and analyze the various consequences of migration on Nigerians.
3 The Cultural Differences and Contributions by Nigerian immigrants in Houston
A detailed investigations into the cultural differences between Nigerians and their host citizens that are worthy of mention will be examined.
4 Why do Nigerian immigrants in Houston go back to Nigeria for good?
This chapter takes an in-depth examination of the factors that are responsible for their leaving Houston for Nigeria for good.
5 And this is the concluding chapter that summarizes the research results of the foregoing chapters and will arrive at a conclusion as to whether the study has achieved its goal. | eng |
