| dc.description.abstract | Denne masteroppgaven er en corpusbasert undersøkelse av frekvens og forekomst av verb som vanligvis ikke brukes i 'the progressive aspect'. To corpus er benyttet, The Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) og Time Magazine Corpus (TMC). Den første er benyttet for å studere 'progressive' forekomster relatert til genre, TMC er benyttet til å undersøke endring av 'progressive' forekomster over tid.
Undersøkelsen tar for seg 12 'anti progressive verb' og ser om de har forekomster i 'the progressive aspect'. Det fremkommer at verbene har forekomster, høyeste frekvens i genrene muntlig og fiksjon og en relativ sterk økning av forekomster i de siste tiårene for noen av verbene. | nor |
| dc.description.abstract | This thesis is a corpus-based investigation of frequency changes of some anti-progressive verbs and their occurrences in the progressive form. Two corpora of American English, The COCA (the Corpus of Contemporary American English) and the TMC (Time Magazine Corpus) have been applied.
The occurrences across genres and time of 12 verbs of anti-progressive nature have been studied. The investigation reveals that spoken and fiction are the most frequent genres and also that there has been an increasing use of these verbs in the progressives aspect in recent decades. | eng |
