Løkkegårder ved Christiania fra 1794-1818 : Lille Frogner, Elisenberg (Schafteløkken) og Sofienlund : idé, form og funksjon

Abstract

Denne oppgaven er strukturert i åtte kapittler. kapittel en er innledning og inkluderer bakrunn, innhold, problemstilling, teori og metode. Hovedhensikten med avhandlingen er å undersøke løkkegårdens opprinnelse og utvikling. Avhandling redegjør for tre eksempler for et nærmere studium. De tre gårende ble oppført av embetsmenn i perioden 1794-1818 ved Christiania. Avhandlingen behandler bare hovedbygningen. Kapittel to tar for seg løkkegårdens historie, et bygningskompleks som ble bygget i landlige omgivelser, og bruken av dens funksjoner. kapittelet forteller om gårdens hensikt og om hvordan embetsmennene brukte dem. Kapittelet viser hva som var bakgrunnen til gårdens byggestil og arkitektoniske stil i klassisismen fra 1700- og 1800-tallet. Kapittel tre er en beskrivelse av de tre gårdene og en sosial historie av de tre byggherrene. Kapittelet innholder en beskrivelse av bygningens eksteriør og interiør. kapittel fire til syv drøfter bygningens konstruksjon, materiale, byggeskikk, byggeteknikker, estetiske verdisyn, og likheter og forskjeller mellom de tre gårdene. Kapittel åtte er konklusjonen på avhandlingen. Bygningskonstruksjonen blir nevnt med to teknikker, nemlig laft og bindingsverk. Det var ingen restriksjoner i lovverket som gjaldt for å bygge utenfor bymurene, så valget var ofte bindingsverk, både fordi det var billiger og fordi det var enklere. Alle bygningene hadde sal i andre etasje. Dette viser referanser til Italia og den romerske tradisjonen. Løkkegårdene ble bygd i nyklassisistisk stil. De hadde forskjellige elementer ut fra samtidens kunstutrykk.

This thesis is structured in eight chapters. Chapter one contains an introduction and includes background, concepts, theory and method. The main purpose is to examine the roots of origin of the løkkegård and its development. There are three examples being used for a closer study. The three farms were built by civil servants in the period 1794 to 1818 outside the town of Christiania. The thesis s only concern is the main buildings on the farm. Chapter two deals with the history of the Norwegian løkkegård, a building complex built on the countryside and the use of its functions. This chapter tells the beginning of the farms and how the civil servants used them. It states the purpose of the building, and has a background comment on the architectural style of classicism in the centuries of 1700 and 1800. Chapter three is a study of the three buildings and a social biography of their building masters and owners. The chapter consist of a description of the buildings exterior and the interior. Chapter four trough seven concerns the construction of the buildings, the material, building techniques, the aesthetic value, the difference and similarity between them, and the changes of the buildings. Chapter eight is the conclusion of this thesis. The buildings construction had two techniques, called laft and bindingsverk. There were no laws on how to build outside the city walls, so the choice was often bindingsverk, hence it was cheaper and simple. All the buildings had a large hall on the second floor. This show resembles to Italy and the Roman traditions. Løkkegårdene were built in the new classical style of empire. They used different elements from this style to show they were concerned about the art expression of their time.
