Integration Technology and New Work Processes in Asset Integrity Management

Abstract

In recent years, Integrated Operations (IO) has proven to be an essential organizational element when seeking to achieve high performance in a complex environment such as the Norwegian oil and gas industry. This thesis investigates how the implementation of integration technology and new work processes has affected inspection and maintenance, and their ability to achieve a more holistic and proactive approach for Asset Integrity Management. Statoil is used as a case study, as it is a leading Norwegian operating company within this field. The study is approached from a three-fold perspective; technological, organizational, and procedural; and is conducted in the form of a gap-analysis by revealing present state-of-the-art practice, future prospects, and subsequently mapping plausible prerequisites for their realization.
