dc.description.abstractThis thesis for the masters degree at the University of Oslo, department of informatics is describing work done on implementing a high resolution Dopplerradar on commercially available COTS-hardware. Traditionally, radio frequency (RF) systems are based on dedicated hardware, such as ASIC-circuits. These circuits offer little or no possibility of using the same hardware for other functionality. With the development of commercial off-the shelf (COTS) hardware modules, this is all about to change. The Triton-VXS01 is a high speed / high bandwidth realtime processing system that could be a common hardware platform for different functionality, and the first function to be demonstated is a Dopplerradar. This thesis contains one proposed realization of a high resolution Dopplerradar, a description of implementation and analysis of the completed design. The core of the system is a realtime matchfilter and quadrature demodulation carried out in the frequency domain, in addition to the basic radar operation. The functionality of the radarsystem has been demonstrated in a free space radiation experiment, and the results are presented in the last chapters of this thesis. The Multi Purpose RF-system (MuPuRF) performed very well under these experiments, and the Triton-card is undoubtedly suited for other planned functions or modes.nor
