This chapter presents a pedagogical approach based on the author’s experience teaching interactive music technology design from an embodied music cognition perspective. The “musicking quadrant” is introduced as a framework to understand the experiences of those who make music in real-time (performers) and non-real-time (instrument makers, composers, producers), and those who experience music in real-time (perceivers) and non-real-time (analysts). New technologies challenge these roles and allow for new types of musical engagement that align with the 4E cognition perspectives.
