Reliabilitet, validitet og responsivitet for «The Dysphagia Handicap Index» - en systematisk oversikt

Abstract

Background: Patient-reported outcome measures is part of the assessment of dysphagia, and the recommendations is that the measures that are being used is valid and has good psychometric properties [1]. The aim of this systematic review is to identify the psychometric properties that has been evaluated for The Dysphagia Handicap Index (DHI) [2], assess the quality of the psychometric properties and synthesize the information on the psychometric properties to indicate the current knowledge. This review follows the COSMIN framework and PRISMA guidelines [3, 4]. Methods: Four data bases were used in the literature search (Cinahl, Embase, PsycINFO, PubMed) resulting in a total of 135 records. The literature searches were completed January 9th, 2023. Three reviewers screened the records for inclusion. Studies were excluded if they reported insufficient or no psychometric data, if it was not an original article or if there was a low number of participants (n < 5). Studies were included if they were about DHI, written in English and reported on psychometric properties of the DHI. Results: Overall, the DHI show good evidence for reliability, hypothesis testing, and responsiveness in the included studied. The evidence for internal consistency, cross cultural validity and content validity is insufficient, and for structural validity, criterion validity and measurement error there is missing information on these psychometric properties. Future research should be completed to evaluate the structural validity of the DHI.
